En route to the hotel afterwards. Metallica and Metal Church partied together on a single bus. Unfortunately, with poor weather still buffeting the continent, the vehicle broke down on the freeway. To entertain themselves while they were stranded, the army of drunken mates had a cut-out, paste-up session in which Crimson Glory masks were fashioned from paper plates and worn by chuckling members of both bands.

Before their final appearance of the tour, in Sweden, Metallica found themselves with a week's worth of dead space. It proved to be enough time for a jaunt through Poland. “The Poland lour,” outlines Lars, “was a lot like the Japan tour in that we were in a new country and didn't know quite what was goin’ on. It's tough to get records over there; I must have signed at least seven or eight bootleg copies of Master of Puppets. But a lot of the kids really knew all the songs. It was amazing. They really seemed appreciative that we were there.”
